The old “Cantina” have been converted in an air conditioned Restaurant and Banqueting Hall. In the Court yard the guests can enjoy an aperitif before dining in the arched Dining Hall After you meal guests can enjoy coffee or drinks in the old Kitchen which still contains its original features.- Our friendly staff is always ready to meet your every need. THE HISTORY The Baglio Calia takes its name from the family who has owned the property since XVIII° Century. The word “Baglio” derives from the Latin “Vallum” which means “bastion or fortified building and the Arab “Bahal” which means “walled court yard”.- The Baglio is a tipical Sicilian estate characterized by its single gated entrance to an enclosed court yard bounded by rural buildings and high walls.- The Baglio were typically owned by the larger land owners for the management of their local estates. The original building which have been sympathetically restored to accommodate guests include: "La Casa Padronale” (The owners house) where the farm owners resided at harvest time. “La Casa del Curatolo” The farm manager’s house “Le Stalle” (The stables ) where the stable lads slept on the mazzanine above the Horses. “Il Fienile” The Hay Barn “The Palmento” where the grapes were pressed “Il Magazeno-Cantina” which was the cellar-store room “La Cucina” The old Kitchen where , at the sound of the bell, the farm workers congregated for meals.
