ENGLISH In a Benedectine monastery constructed in the 13th century and then used as a farmhouse for centuries, proprietors Elio and Laura Savoca have beautifully restored this ancient property into a flourishing agriturismo hotel. Centered around a traditional Sicilian courtyard, there are fourteen warm and comfortable rooms, one of which is accessible for handicapped use, all furnished with Sicilian furniture, equipped with bathrooms, and with traditional ceramic tile floors made in nearby Caltagirone. The restoration has been made to complement the traditional architecture of Gigliotto, with its expansive courtyard, arched entryways, and high beamed ceilings. The services offered here are varied and many: cycling, horseback riding, hiking, fishing at the small lake on the farm, and hunting. There is also a conference room, a park with a playground for children, and a swimming pool. Guided activities include the possibility to take part in the seasonal harvest of mushrooms and wild asparagus, traditional Sicilian cooking classes, and specialty cooking courses in baked goods and jams according to the traditional farm recipes of the region. There is also a small spring that produces healthful water. In the Sala Grande dining room that can seat up to 150 people, you can sample traditional Sicilian cuisine by organic wine made from black Avola grapes in our vineyard and traditionally harvested by hand. Our farm is exclusively organic. We have a splendid swimming pool 10 xes 20 mt with disposition solarium of the resident guests Our organic wine, olive oil, and honey are available for purchase by our guests. |
DEUTSCH In Mitten eines 200 Hektar grossen Besitzes, auf einem Huegel, von dem aus man den gesamten Osten Siziliens ueberblicken kann, befindet sich die Azienda Gigliotto. Historisch und kunsthistorisch bedeutende Sehenswuerdikeiten befinden sich in nur wenigen Kilometern Entfernung. Durch ihre Lage, mittem im Herzen des sonnigen Siziliens, ist die Azienda optimaler Ausgangspunkt fuer Erkundungstouren nach Taormina, Agrigento, Siracusa, Piazza Armerina (sehr sehenswert nicht nur wegen der roemische Villa del casale), Morgantina, wo man ein griechisches Theater bewundern kann, und Caltagirone, beruehmt fuer seine Keramikkunst ecc.. Das Gebaeude eines alten Bauernhauses aus dem 13. Jahrhundert wurde von den Eigentuemern stilgetreu, mit viel Liebe renoviert und so umgebaut, dass sich nun Gaeste in den 15, mit Sizilianische Moebeln gemuetlich eingerichteten und mit Terracotta gefliesten Zimmern mit Bad wohlfuehlen koennen (eines davon ist behindertengerecht ausgebaut). Die Struktur des Gebaeudes ist architektonisch gesehen insofern besonders, da die einzelnen Gebaudeteile so angordnet sind, dass sie einen kleinen Innenhof bilden. Diese Architektur war fuer die feudalen Landgueter des reichen Europas dieser Zeit typisch. Bei der Renovierung des Landgutes wurde grosser Wert darauf gelegt, dass die urspruengliche Architektur mit ihren typischen Bogenformen, den kleinen Innenhoefen, Winkeln und Nischen, den alten Gemaeuern und Durchgaengen erhalten bleibt und der rustikale Charme des Gebaeudes eine behagliche Atmosphaere ausstrahlt. In dem grossen Speisesaal wird regional typische, sizilianische Kueche serviert, wie Omlette, sizilianischer Kaese und Wurst, Kaninchen, Rostbraten und Gegrilltes, hausgemachter Pasta, zubereitet mit Oel aus eigener Produktion, dazu reichen wir unseren Hauswein, gepresst aus der Traube “ Nero d’avola”, aus erlesenem Anbau, von Hand verlesen. Alle Produkte stammen aus der Region und werden streng biologisch angebaut. Auf der Azienda steht Ihnen folgendes Angebot zur Verfuegung: Ausfluege mit dem Rad, Ausritte und Reitunterricht durch einen qualifizierten Reitlehrer Schwimmingpool mit Solarium. |
FRANÇAIS Au centre d’une grande propriété de plus de 200 Hectare, au sommet d’une colline que domine toute la Sicile orientale, se trouve la gîte ruraux « GIGLIOTTO ». La Sicile mythologique et artistique est à quelques Km. Des gîtes et au carrefour pour les excursions pour Taormina, Agrigente, Syracuse, Piazza Armerina avec la fameuse Villa romane du Casale, Morgantina avec le Théâtre grec, Caltagirone et ces céramiques etc.. Dans cette tres ancienne ferme de 1200, que les propriétaires ont restauré pour l’accueil des touristes, il y a 15 chambres ( dont 2 pour handicapés) chaleureuses et accueillantes, avec des meubles régionaux, salle de bain et carrelage en terre cuite. L’architecture structure particulière comprend plusieurs parties, qui enterrent une cou intérieure typique des fiefs les plus fertiles et riches de l’époque. La restauration a été fait en respectant l’architecture traditionnelle avec arcs, paliers, poutres et murs créent une atmosphère ancienne et chaleureuse. Dans une Grande salle ou peut gauter a la cousine traditionnelle et typique sicilienne, avec frittures formages et charcuteries , gibier rôti, et viandes cuites sur le braises, pâté maison et bien sur le vin fait avec du raisin noir d’Avola ou les vignes sont cultives a basse rendement et le raisin cueilli a la main . Tous les produits sont des produit rigoureusement biologiques et régionaux. La ferme met a disposition des ôtes des produits exclusivement biologiques, vin, huile, figues de barbaries et fruit et fruit secs.
