IL LUOGO

L’azienda , posta a circa 500 mt. sul mare, si estende per 74 ettari in agro di Villarosa. Dall’aspetto paesaggistico vario, la proprietà è delimitata dal fiume Salso e da alcuni torrenti suoi affluenti. Essendo posta al centro della Sicilia è un luogo da cui è particolarmente agevole raggiungere non solo i maggiori centri dell’isola, ma anche luoghi di grande interesse storico-culturale che non rientrano nei soliti circuiti dedicati al turismo. Oggi l’azienda è parte di un antico feudo dei Baroni Bartoccelli d’Altamira,Grandi di Spagna, di cui Carla La Placa è una degli eredi. La miniera di zolfo, oggi chiusa, costituisce un sito minerario importante perché in uno spazio relativamente limitato è possibile vedere i differenti tipi di forni utilizzati nel corso dei secoli per l’estrazione del minerale. In azienda è possibile acquistare olio, olive, capperi, legumi, zafferano, cereali ed altri prodotti stagionali.

COME SI ARRIVA

Dall’autostrada A19 Palermo-Catania uscire allo svincolo di Ponte Cinque Archi, quindi seguire la SS 121 direzione Villarosa.Giunti all’ingresso del paese imboccare a sinistra la SP6 per Villapriolo e seguire la nostra segnaletica “Azienda agricola San Giovannello”. Il terzo cartello indica a sinistra l’ingresso in azienda.

L’OSPITALITA’

La struttura ricettiva consta di 2 corpi di fabbrica distanti circa 70 mt. Tutte le antiche strutture sono state recentemente restaurate per dare ospitalità a 20 ospiti in 10 camere da cui si gode uno stupendo panorama .Sono arredate per la maggior parte con mobili di famiglia, tutte dotate di TV, aria condizionata, citofono. Due ampi saloni ristorante, un laboratorio di ceramica e soprattutto, un centro benessere dotato di sauna finlandese e vasca per idromassaggio terapeutico completano la struttura ove gli ospiti possono piacevolmente rilassarsi. Si parla inglese.

SPORT

L’azienda propone treking a piedi o in bicicletta per visitare le aziende casearie, gli oleifici, il mulino o la fabbrica di laterizi della zona.Vi è anche un campo da bocce e un calcetto balilla. Sono anche organizzate visite didattiche per seguire il ciclo del frumento dalla semina alla panificazione.

LA CUCINA

Il ristorante è aperto su prenotazione. La cucina è familiare, è ricca quindi di aromi, sapori e colori tipici della tradizione siciliana. Le specialità gastronomiche vanno dalla pasta alla “pecorara” agli arrosti misti di carne locale, alle crostate con le marmellate prodotte in azienda, ai liquori fatti con le ricette della nonna. Sono anche valorizzate antiche ricette dell' ennese utilizzando i legumi e il frumento che come “seed savers” (ovvero salvatori di semi) stiamo salvando dall'estinzione, come la lenticchia nera delle colline ennesi, la cicerchia siciliana, il grano duro timilia , la fava larga di Leonforte e la fava di Villarosa.

The farm “San Giovannello is situated in the country –side around Villarosa in the province of Enna. It is at about 500 mt above the sea level and is 75 hectares large- wheat,olives,almond trees and vines are grown in accordance with biological agriculture method. The landscape is varied: plains are interrupted by hills up to the horizon, streams flow towards the river Salso which bounds the estate. As the farm is about 10 km from the juction of Ponte Cinque Archi of the motorway Palermo-Catania ,it is placed in the middle ot Sicily where the provinces of Enna, Caltanissetta and Palermo border. Therefore it is a place from which is particulary easy to reach not only the main historical –cultural centers of the island, but also places which are not included among the usual tours of foreign tourists, such as the salt mine and the Spaniard quarter in Petralia Soprana ,the castel of sperlinga, Ganci, Nicosia famous for the painted wooden ceiling of its cathedral,unique in Europe and so on. At present the farm, managed by Carla La Placa , is part of an old feud of the Barons Bartoccelli d ‘Altamira ,grandees of Spain, whose Carla is one of the heiresses. The feud was preserves undivided up to the early 20th century when, repealed the salic law on the right of primogeniture, it was divided among the heirs .In the past the farm was also thriving thanks to a sulphur mine closed in the fifties when American sulphur invaded the European market. The mineral site is important because in a relatively limited space it is possible to visit the different kinds of furnace used the centuries for mining the ore. It is one of very few farm holidays in the south of Italy supplied with a finnish sauna and a therapeutic hydromassage pool . It is possible to organize ceramics courses in the farm lab ,run by qualified staff who got a diploma in art institute of Caltagirone ,and Sicilian cooking courses ,if guests require them. Moreover, by preventive consent, it is possible to organize visits to near cheese making and olive in oil transformation centers in the periods when these workings are made. San Giovannello farm holydays is also a didactic farm. The farm holidays has a family management which assures a warm and friendly welcome to our guests. The apartments The farm San Giovannello has 7 house units with 20 beds. Each unit has air conditioning system, telephone, TV and some of them also have a kitchen with a refrigerator. All rooms, except the single ones have private bathroom and they are cosy and agreeable thanks to family furniture, carpets and pictures on the walls The restaurant The farm “San Giovannello” has a restaurant made of two different rooms obtained from the old straw pile and the stable. It can contain up 90 seated people. In the restaurant you can have a lot typical Sicilian dishes cooked by our chefs utilizing the natural products cultivated in the field of the farm with biological cultivations. The restaurant could be booked for briding party, anniversary, confirmation day and each kind of happening. Booking is welcome. How to arrive Go along the motorway Palermo-Catania and go out to the junction called Ponte Cinque Archi, follow traffic sings to wards Villarosa .At the entrance of the village ,turn left to wards Alimena (from this point you find our sings “Azienda Agricola San Giovannello”).After 3.8 km about the third sign show on the left the entrance to a dirt road leading to the farm holidays.

Kurze Beschreibung Unser Bauernhof dehnt sich auf 74 Hektar im Gebiet Villarosa aus, mitten Sizilien, und liegt in einer günstigen Lage, um nicht nur alle größten Städte der Mittelmeerinseln ganz leicht zu erreichen, sondern auch um alle wichtigsten kulturgeschichtlichen Orte zu besuchen, die normalerweise nicht in den üblichen Touren und Rundreisen für Touristen vorgesehen sind. Der Bauernhof bietet Unterkunft in antiken aber neulich restaurierten Gebäuden. Der Bauernhof Der Bauernhof besteht aus 2 alten Hauptgebäude voneinander 70 mt entfernt, die neulich restauriert wurden und die Unterkunft für 20 Personen in 10 Zimmern mit herrlichem Ausblick auf das sizilianischen Land bieten. Die Inneneinrichtung besteht aus antiken Familienmöbel, TV, Klima- und Sprechanlage. Zwei großen Restaurantssäle und eine Wellness-Farm ergänzen die Struktur.

COMMENT ARRIVER Parcourez l’autoroute Palermo-Catania et sortez au raccord de Ponte Cinque Archi, suivez la signalation pour Villarosa. A l’entrée du pays tournez à gauche en direction Alimena ( à ce croisement il y a la signalation ”Azienda agricola San Giovannello” A 3,8 Km environ le troisième panneau de signalation vous indiquera sur la gauche l’accès à une route en terre battue qui vous conduira à notre ferme DESCRIPTION La ferme San Giovannello se trouve dans les campagnes de Villarosa dans les environs de Enna, située à 500 m. au-dessus du niveau de la mer, elle s’étend sur 75 hectares environ où l’on cultive - selon la méthode d’agriculture biologique – du blé, des oliviers, des vignes, des pois chiches, des légumes, etc. En ce qui concerne son aspect paysagiste la propriété est très variée, car les collines et les plaines se croisent souvent; elle est délimitée par le fleuve Salso et par quelques-uns de ses affluents. Puisque la ferme se trouve à 10 Km environ du raccord de Ponte Cinque Archi sur l’autoroute Palermo-Catania, elle est située au centre de la Sicile où les limites des provinces de Enna, Caltanissetta et Palermo se rencontrent. Par conséquent c’est un lieu d’où il est particulièrement facile d’arriver non seulement aux centres historiques et culturels les plus importants de l’île, mais aussi aux lieux qui ne font pas partie des circuits habituels dédiés au tourisme étranger. Aujourd’hui la ferme, dirigée par Pietro La Placa et sa famille, fait partie d’un ancien fief des Barons Bartoccelli d’Altamira, grands d’Espagne, dont Pietro est un des héritiers. Le fief est resté entier jusqu’au début du XXe siècle quand, après l’abolition de la loi salique sur le majorat, il a été subdivisé entre les differents héritiers. Autrefois la ferme était également florissante même grâce à la mine de soufre fermée dans les annèes 50 quand le soufre américain envahit le marché européen. Le site minier est important parce que dans un espace relativement limité il est possibile de voir les différents types de fours utilisés au cours des siècles pour l’extraction du minéral. Peu de structures au Sud ont été équipées, comme cette ferme agro-touristique, avec un Centre bien-être constitué par un sauna finlandais et un bassin pour l’ hydromassage thérapeutique ; en outre, sur la demande des clients, il est possible d’organiser des cours de céramique, dans le laboratoire de la ferme, faits par du personnel qui s’est qualifié à l’Institut d’Etat d’Art pour la céramique de Caltagirone, et des cours de cuisine. Avec un accord préalable, il est possible d’organiser des visites aux centres d’élevage de bétail des environs, aux centres de production du fromage, de transformation des olives en huile et du froment en farine, dans les saisons où ces activités sont effectuées. La ferme San Giovannello peut être considérée comme une entreprise didactique par tous ces écoliers qui désirent passer une journée en plein air et connaître les procédés de transformation du blé dur, qui est la culture principale de ce territoire. La structure a une gestion familiale et assure aux clients un accueil chaleureux et cordial. LES APPARTEMENTS La ferme dispose de 7 unités de logement pour un total de 20 lits. Les unités sont dotées d’air conditionné, de TV, d’interphone et téléphone dans chaque chambre et, selon la demande, queques-unes disposent de cuisine et réfrigérateur. Toutes les chambres, à l’exception des deux chambres individuelles, ont la salle de bain et sont très accueillantes et agréables grâce aux meubles de famille, aux tapis et aux tableaux. LE RESTAURANT La ferme San Giovannello dispose d’un salon restaurant composé de deux pièces (autrefois un pallier et une étable) qui peuvent contenir jusqu’à 90 places. Dans notre restaurant vous pourrez goûter les plats typiques de la cuisine sicilienne préparés par nos chefs qui utilisent les produits naturels cultivés dans les champs de la ferme avec des cultures biologiques. Le salon restaurant peut être réservé par les mariages et les anniversaires, les confirmations, les premières communions, et pour chaque type de célébration. Il faut réserver.
